Icy 625 MVC (2-02-08)

At 0126 Co 70 and WBEMS (Western Berks EMS) was dispatched to Rt. 625 and Marsh Rd. for a vehicle over the embankment with a injured driver. Upon Deputy 70's (L. Hoffert) response, BCCC (Berks County Communications Center) advised him of one vehicle off the roadway and on its side, with a female driver bleeding from the face; no further details were available. Chief 70 (J. Dietrich) arrived on location confirming the initial report of a vehicle on its side and off the roadway and one female driver self extricated. The Chief also advised incoming units of extremely icy road conditions and to use caution in the area. S-70 with a crew of 2 made the response. When the Squad arrived, the crew went into service checking the vehicle for leaking fluids and found none. Asst.70 (J. Lutz) began pt. care until WBEMS arrived on location. EMS arrived and fire gave them a pt. report and assisted them with a standing immobilization of the pt. Pt. care was transferred to WBEMS and personnel stood by until the tow company arrived on location. Personnel assisted tow company with removal of the vehicle and fire police shut the roadway down until Pen-Dot could salt the roadway. Co 70 personnel cleared the scene in 75 minutes.
