At 2132hrs, Co 70 and Southern Berks EMS were dispatched to the 2100blk of New Holland Road for a vehicle into a pole. Chief 70 (J. Dietrich) went enroute and was informed by Berks Radio that a single vehicle struck a pole and wires were down on the roadway. Utility 70 and Chief 70 arrived on scene to find SBREMS M685 on location and providing pt. care to the sole male driver. Crews assisted with pt. care and packaging. Fire Police shut down New Holland Road while Utility 70 lite up the scene for Cumru Police to investigate the collision. Berks Radio was notified of the pole number and advised to contact Met-Ed so they can respond to the scene. Crews stood by until Met-Ed arrived on location and released the fire department. All units cleared at 2304hrs.

At 1438hrs, Co 70 was alerted for a possible MedEvac landing for a burn victim on Philadelphia Ave. assisting Southern Berks EMS. Deputy 70 (L. Hoffert) went responding and received an additonal from BCCC (Berks County Communication Center) of a female with 2nd and 3rd degree burns to her chest. EMS is currently talking to Reading Hospital if they would accept the pt. or if they wanted the pt. flown out to a different trauma center. BCCC then notified Deputy 70 that RHMC wishes the pt. to be flown to Lehigh Valley Hospial and MedEvac 1 was enroute to our locatiion with a 13 minute flight time. Engine/Tanker 70 and Asst. 70 (J. Lutz) established an LZ directly across the street from the incident; Asst. 70 assumed LZ 70. MedEvac 1 landed without incident and Southern Berks EMS transferred pt. care to the flght crew. MedEvac 1 took off without incident and Co 70 was placed available at 1532hrs.
On Saturday morning at 0958hrs, Co 70 was alerted for a possible vehicle fire on Tamarack Trail. Deputy 70 (L. Hoffert) went responding and was informed by the communications center of multiple calls reporting smoke from an engine compartment of a vehicle approx. 20 foot from the residence. Deputy 70 arrived on location and confirmed a working fire. E/T 70 arrived on location and stretched a wet 1 3/4" bumper line to extinguish the fire. Fire was contained to the engine compartment of the vehicle and no damaged was noted to the structure. All units placed available at 1036.
On Wednesday night, Co 2 (Reiffton Fire Company) brought rescue 2 to our station to go over their Amkus Extrication tools. Co.70 members reviewed Rescue 2 tool local and operation of their Amkus hydraulic system. Members then practied cribbing, door removal, roof removal and dash rolls. A special thanks goes out to Reiffton Fire Company for allowing us to train with them as well as Mohn's Towing for supplying the vehicles for the drill.
